    Ancient Yoga Practices From India

    posted by admin

Yoga is a group of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. It has been defined as referring to “technologies or disciplines of asceticism and meditation which are thought to lead to spiritual experience and profound understanding or insight into the nature of existence.” Yoga is intimately connected to the religious beliefs and practices of several Indian religions.

Ascetic practices (tapas) are referenced in the Brahmanas early (900 BCE and 500 BCE) commentaries on the Vedas. In the Upanishads, an early reference to meditation is made in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, one of the earliest Upanishads (approx. 900 BCE). The main textual sources for the evolving concept of Yoga are the middle Upanishads (ca. 400 BCE), the Mahabharata (5th c. BCE) including the Bhagavad Gita (ca. 200 BCE), and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (200 BCE-300 CE).

Yoga is a 5000 year old science whose teachings were first imparted not in a classroom or Gurukul, but on the battlefield. In the epic Mahabharata, Lord Krishna is first said to have imparted the teachings of Yoga to his despondent student Arjuna. Around 1500 years later, another sage, Patanjali, went on to enunciate, for the benefit of humankind and eternity, the way to reach the ’summom bonum’ of life through a series of 195 aphorisms (sutras) in his epic treatise The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Bhakti yoga is the foremost of all. It denotes the spiritual practice of fostering loving devotion to God, called bhakti. Traditionally there are nine forms of bhakti-yoga. Bhakti yoga is generally considered the easiest of the four general paths to liberation, or moksha (the others being Karma, Raja and Jnana Yoga), and especially so within the current age of Kali yuga (according to the Hindu cycle of time). In scriptures such as the Bhagavata Purana, bhakti is described as a perfectional stage in itself, which surpasses even moksha as a level of spiritual realisation.

Regarding physical yoga practices as done today, people are reporting frequently their wonderful experiences, their transformation of being, and their experience of being taken beyond the here and now. In one wonderful session of Yoga, people get to practice a number of things — some Yoga poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation and chanting. In Yoga you get to learn basic terms like Mudras, Bandhas and Chakras. Best of all, Yoga is fun and relaxing while, at the same time, being delectably challenging to beginners. The intermediate and advanced students, who insist on continuing their practices, get more and more of the taste of this great 5000+ year old way of life. Yoga is beneficial for the body, mind and spirit.

    Physical Benefits of Yoga

    1. Brings down stress and enhances powers of relaxation
    2. Boosts physical strength, stamina and flexibility
    3. Bestows greater powers of concentration and self control
    4. Inculcates impulse Control
    5. Helps in rehabilitation of old and new injuries
    6. Intensifies tolerance to pain and enhancing mental clarity
    7. Boosts functioning of the immune system
    8. Enhances posture and muscle tone
    9. Improves blood circulation
    10. Results in healthy, glowing skin
    11. Cleanses and improves overall organ functioning
    12. Bestows peace of mind and a more positive outlook to life
    13. Infuses a sense of balance and internal harmony

Antique History Books have told us so much about the wisdom of the ancients. When advice has been given on how to reach a state of bliss or happiness, every faith has had the way unique to it, and the followers who follow the acceptance of their ancestors.

What is the road to bliss? And then eternal salvation? Each faith has developed an answer as it interprets the Jewish Old Testament Bible, the Christian Bible, The Koran, the words of Buddha, or any other ancient or modern healers.

But modern science has taken the measure of people who live the longest and report greatest sense of happiness and living a satisfying life. These are the common attributes that University of California researchers found among these people.

    1. -COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
    2. -PRACTICE ACTS OF KINDNESS
    3. -SAVOR THE JOYS OF LIFE
    4. -THANK A MENTOR
    5. -LEARN TO FORGIVE
    6. -INVEST TIME AND ENERGY IN FRIENDS AND FAMILY
    7. -TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY
    8. -DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO COPE: STRESS AND HARDSHIPS.

We feel this is so important that we should incorporate this into our heart and soul. And how can we do that? The same way that medical students memorize all the bones of the foot, for example, by breaking them down into an acronym, that is the first letter of each bone, or ventricle through the heart.

So, what we get first off from this deep wisdom are the existing initials as we see. If Count your Blessings is C, then we have:CPST, calling LITD.

If you can find some other word in each category that links you deeper and in a more immediate way by all your favorite relatives and you can make that work, then do that.

Another way is to read each word out loud, and write it down, and repeat it so much it becomes a part of you. Or we turn the page after nodding at such good advice and forget it while we get busy in our lives.

And if we take the key word first letter, we may have Blessings, Kindness, Savor, Thank, Forgive, Friends/Family,Care,Cope: BKST, FFCC.

Many other studies have confirmed on these findings, and add that often these people report a belief in God and attend to many charitable events and are active for their ages. They are positive in attitude and quicker to search for a solution than complain about a situation that with effort could be made better.

Otherwise, it can become easy as as Piglet and Pooh.
CPST,or BKST, Pooh. LITD, or FFCC, Piglet. Be happy.

Usually, a person can easily point out to an activity that he enjoys doing and say that he is passionate about this or that. Yet, it is not unusual to meet people who do not know what they want in life. They are also unaware of what their passions really are. They are generally good at certain things but the problem is that they are not even aware that they do not know.

Not knowing is definitely a problem in discovering your passions. Yet, if you want to live a fulfilling life and a great one at that, you should start with clarity. You should know where you are and what you want to accomplish. Knowing your passions is essential if you were to make the most out of your gifts and your skills. By drawing upon your skills, talents, and knowledge, you can easily discover your passions and use them to enhance your life.

When you have passion, you become full of zest. Each day, you have the energy and the willingness to do your work, simply because you love it. Working does not necessarily mean drudgery. When you are working passionately, you can easily address the different issues that you have to face.

Discovering your passion is just like finding a switch in a room and filling your life with light and power. With such power, you can achieve more as compared to doing something that you are only forced to do. The best of all these, perhaps, is the way in which you can easily excel in what you are doing when you are passionate about it.

When you understand what your passions are, your eyes will be opened to a whole lot of possibilities and other roads that you can take. With your passions discovered, you can easily navigate through the murky waters that your life may bring. Even when you get distracted by a lot of things, you can easily say no to them and focus on what you truly love.

The following steps can help you understand what your passions are. For one, take a look at the set of activities that you love doing the most. Is it writing, drawing, or speaking? Secondly, you also need to take a look at the things that you buy. The things you bought show what you are willing to buy and this is usually a good indication of what you love. Lastly, take an inventory of what you want to do and the direction that you want to take. These will help you take stock of your passions and help you maximize your life’s purpose.

As we have discussed, that news from those scientists at the University of California is such great news. They measured thousands of people at various stages and ages of life and found there were eight common virtues shared by those who reported the happiest and most fulfilling lives and best health for their age group.

They were more active in their age group and were almost all helpful in local volunteer activities, tended to believe in a God and an afterlife, and yet they were in no hurry to get there, they had no doubt they were going to Heaven.

These attributes to bliss are: Count Your Blessings; Commit acts of kindness; Savor the joys of Life; Thank a mentor; Learn to forgive; Stay close to family and friends; Take care of your body; Develop strategies to cope with stress and hardship.

And there you are, everyone’s merry little angel, or at least an understanding shoulder to lean on and lend a helping hand, give a cheery word, watch out and protect yourself, learn to stop, drop, and roll.

Here is a way that has worked for me on the issue of forgiveness: tell your worst old enemy you are sorry and not happy with your part in that dispute, no matter what else you are sorry, and watch, as I have, this new friend more than make up for your bravery and now a closer friend than ever.

You may find, as have I, that it is a series of tricks and clicks into your brain and then through the fibers and synapses to make natural what we thought we had outgrown kindergarten. I have made silly friends with each virtue, and you can too.

The first day, us gents can easily play Count Count as in the popular children’s show. Except we Count Our Blessings, dressed for the part. You ladies are Countess of Blessings, and you could carry a wand, the gents a fine walking stick borrowed from old uncle Horatio for the week and a day, to make it all the way.

So, practice these steps to bliss with this thought in mind. Guatama Buddha, as we who meditate know, spent a lifetime away from the Hindu series of deaths and reincarnations through monkey to cow, and found eight ways to purity and bliss on this earth which then naturally caused your spirit to leave in after a well lived life and enter Nirvana, or Heaven.

His steps were differently named, and we accept the coincidence if it is that but those University of California seem to have uncovered through science what Buddha found through a life of pure living. Amazing. I really need to meditate on that.

You could too, if you feel some bliss coming on. It is like a sneeze but slower and more glowing and building but more like an inner light. Let us get ten persons of meditation together and we will hear twelve ways to bliss. But these are the basics.

Celebrate St George’s Day in London

    posted by admin

It is thought that St George’s Day is one of the busiest single-day celebrations, behind St Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day. The celebration of St George’s Day is to some extent low key here in England. However, it is much celebrated elsewhere including countries such as Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Germany and Greece, Moscow, Istanbul, Genoa and Venice.

A lot of pubs do English menus and encourage family outing. Over the years there has been a debate whether it should be declared a national holiday or not. This is a tough call considering the fact that it falls right by two important, and more established, bank holidays; Easter and May bank holiday. This year’s St George’s Day is on Wednesday 23 April 2008.

London has always held its own when it comes to celebrating this day. This year, the celebrations start on Saturday the 21st of April through Sunday the 22nd of April 2008. For the fourth year running the Mayor of London will celebrate St George’s Day with a series of free events. For 2007 the programme included a celebration of English humour, the popular annual Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations at the Globe Theatre. Plus outdoor screenings of historic silent Shakespeare films, a festival for St George at Covent Garden and a parade at the Cenotaph.

The attendance of more than 5,567 people broke the coconut orchestra world record in Trafalgar Square, as part of the celebrations. Previously, the attendance record was held by New York with 1785 people.

Who was St George? St George is a legend. He was a defender of the weak. He also defended Christianity from the cruel Roman emperor Diocletian, who felt Christianity threatened his power. Young George enlisted into the Cavalry of the Roman Army at the age of 17, during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian. He rose through the ranks to the top due to his physical and character strengths. St. George gained great respect for his compassion towards Diocletian’s victims.

What is myth and what is fact? Did he really slay the Dragon? Born in Turkey (in Cappadocia). He lived in 3rd century AD with his Christian parents. Later he lived in Palestine where he became a Roman soldier. The day of 23rd April was named as Saint George’s day in 1222. St George defended his faith without compromise. He was beheaded at Nicomedia near Lyddia in Palestine on the 23rd of April in the year 303 AD.

Why is he such a popular Saint, celebrated in so many Countries, Races, Religions and Organisations? Most authorities on the subject seem to agree that he was born in Cappadocia in what is now Turkey, in about the year 280 AD. It was in the year 1415 AD that St. George became the Patron Saint of England when English Soldiers under Henry V won the battle of Agincourt. Many regiments of the Army still celebrate St. George’s Day with great ceremony.

There are many patriotic groups that help advance the tradition of St George’ day. One such group is The Royal Society of St. George. The society is known to organising the Short Service, Wreath Laying and the March Past. Founded in 1894 with the intention of promoting “Englishness” and the English way of life, it now has 107 branches, many of them overseas. When England is involved in sports; rugby, football, cricket and on many other occasions, the St Georges’ flag is the emblem of choice for supporters.

At first it was as the old warriors around the village water hole in their older days, reflecting on what had gone right and what had gone wrong in all their battles, defeats, retreats, returns with victories.

What had it all been for? That would be Socrates. Others, as today, would shout all the platitudes of the day, defending what ever decisions, however apparently harmful, the present administration was taking. This little civilization on a hill was surrounded by ignorance or power.

All citizens of Greece needed to be on their alert. As at Gettysburg two thousand years later, the fate of democracy could some times hang by threads. Socrates made the leaders of ancient Greece jealous and was forced to die.

The immediate response was that the people of Athens arose as one and hounded those Governing 30 out of Athens: death, rejection, forever out of any inner council of wiser gentler Athens. This was the Athens Alexander arrived in, and took note.

Heroic to a fault, he saw his chance for immortality, I think, and I have seen no published thoughts on this motivation behind Alexander deciding with his life to go for it! No guts no glory, his inspiration would affect other people after his death, as with Socrates.

He must be good, he might as well be Great. It seems that Alexander, unlike most of us, had plenty example how life could end quickly, and unless that dying man had done good or evil in his life made a difference on how he could die, and expect to go to a better life with God, as Socrates told Aristotle, and as Aristotle told Alexander, and as I tell my grand children, his horse told me.

This really is about people and how they respond to the situations they find themselves facing, and how well prepared they are to effect change, and accept their fate. Socrates died quietly and told Aristotle, who told his pupil Alexander, that he was going to a better life.

Alexander almost died in the desert in Egypt seeking a Wise Holy Man : they blessed each other. 350 years before the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.Other ancient texts tell us that the disciples of Buddha were in Greece by about this time.

We know from history that Buddha had evolved the ancient Hindu faith of a caste system and his beliefs led him and his followers since to belief that a life of pure living and honest behavior towards others allowed one to enter naturally into a state of Nirvana at death, or Heaven.

But even our Bible speaks of the Three Wise Men of the east, and the only wise religion we can really think of out east was the teachings of Buddha, which fit well with the gentle teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Peace.

The Pentacles Court Cards of a Tarot Deck

    posted by admin

The Page of Pentacles represents a youthfulness that can bear the weight of responsibility on his grounded shoulders. He can manage wealth better than almost anyone else. If this card comes in a tarot reading about an event, he is referring to a material or occupation oriented matter. Good fortune awaits you in one of these areas. If the card refers to a person, it is someone who would be considered an “old soul” or wise beyond their years. They work hard, apply common sense and would never be considered a risk taker. He is the master of seeing an opportunity in the weeds and reaching for it. If there is a team project or a large responsibility around the corner, the Page will provide the strength, energy and insight needed to deal with it effectively.

The Knight of Pentacles is a man of action- but thoughtful action, which isn’t the case with the other knights in the deck. He considers a situation thoroughly before acting but when it comes time to charge forward, he does so with tremendous force. Dedicated, loyal and true to his word this Knight is willing and able to shoulder any amount of responsibility. Persistence could be his middle name. He is a man of tradition and logic and may find himself annoyed by those who would be considered dreamers. He always achieves success with his ethical approach and strength of character.

The Queen of Pentacles is maternal and fertile. Whatever wealth she has was gained through her kind and generous nature. This card can either represent an aspect of self or another person in a tarot reading. Intuition, dedication, love and happiness are what she is devoted to. The weak spot in her facade is that she clings to notions of security. Trust and security are hallmark to her. Material wealth is not a priority. The Queen is often portrayed as a mother, whether she actually has children or not, due to her caring nature and dedication to the home and family.

The King of Pentacles has enough wealth to spread around and does so. This card is representative of another person or a part of the self in a tarot reading. The King encourages others to behave as he has since it obviously turned out well for him. He is true to his word but unlike the Knight doesn’t take on responsibility just because he wants to. The King wants a profit. Intelligence and experience make him a responsible businessman who gets what he wants in a respectable fashion. Like the Queen, he is concerned with security but finds it in the material world. He is dutiful, traditional but adaptable and normally not prone to bouts of temper. If someone deceives him, the punishment will be great. The King is the endpoint of a stage of success, a sign that effort can be suspended and wealth enjoyed for the time being. There is no negativity bogging this success down and the freedom of generosity can be expressed.

The Dangers and Expressions of Anger

    posted by admin

At a Christmas party, a provoked brother stabbed his junior one to death. He was arrested, tried and sentenced to life imprisonment for manslaughter. In the prison, he regrets his erratic behavior due to anger. The family is grieving for the double tragedy that struck the family.

The modern media with its vivid depiction of violence portrays anger as a heroic quality, as the quintessential psyche of the macho man. But is it really? Most people recognize that in real life anger is not a pleasant emotion, yet they savor the violent scenes in the movies. And then, strangely enough, they wonder why they themselves, in fits of anger, speak such words and do such deeds which break the hearts of their loved ones and which they themselves bitterly regret later.

Anger breaks hearts and wrecks homes. When enslaved by anger, people violently attack, wound and kill others ‘ sometimes their loved ones. Violent heroism in the media thus breeds violent crime in society. Anger is also a known cause of a large variety of ailments ranging from high blood pressure to heart attacks. Anger can lead to all forms of conflicts ranging from petty quarrels to world wars.

Moreover depression, a rampant modern mental health challenge, originates in anger. When one is unable to vent out anger on the perceived cause of frustration, one vents it out on oneself by going into a self-pity and self-martyrdom mentality, which is typical of depression.

Thus anger destroys reputations, careers, families and lives. No wonder the Bhagavad-gita (16.21) describes anger as “one of the gates that leads hell.”

The Bhagavad-gita (2.62) describes the psychological genesis of anger. When our desires, plans and expectations for control and enjoyment are thwarted, the resentment and frustration expresses itself through harsh words and / or violent actions.

One tries to satisfy his lust, and when he cannot, anger and greed arise. A sane man who does not want to glide down to the degraded species of life must try to give up the three enemies, lust, greed and anger, which can kill the self to such an extent that there will be no possibility of liberation from this material entanglement.

How can we deal with anger? Thomas Jefferson suggests, “When angry, count ten before you speak; if very angry, count hundred.” Consciously delaying action is useful in checking angry outbursts. It said that one should not speak when one is angry, one should also immediately drink a glass of water.

Anger, being fiery, can be cooled by a sip of water. And a spiritual transmutation of our emotions can completely uproot anger. We are all souls, spiritual and eternal children of God. Our heart finds fulfillment only when we make God our first love in life and we can at once be free from contamination of this terrible of sin and constant disagreement, and gradually rise to the state of transcendence and go back to Godhead.

By the process of calling on the holy names and also propagating the chanting of the holy names of the Lord can we be immune from all effects of this dangerous age. Moreover knowledge that no material upheaval or upstart can threaten our inner wealth of devotion gives us an unshakeable inner security, which anger cannot shake. Even before we attain that tranquil state, devotion engenders spiritual maturity and stability within us. Forewarned is forearmed.

Often we indulge in anger because we do not recognize the danger of anger. When we awaken our dormant spiritual devotion by chanting the holy names of God, especially the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, this devotion will make us strong at heart and wise at head.

We develop the discrimination to pre-empt provocative situations, the open-mindedness to see the other person’s viewpoint and the assertiveness to present our viewpoint without becoming aggressive. The Vedic scriptures describe the story of an violent sadistic hunter Mrigari who would half-kill animals and enjoy seeing them suffering till death. But when he was enlightened by the great sage Narada Muni and empowered by chanting of the names of Rama, he became so self-controlled that he carefully avoided stepping even on an ant.

Will our world not be a better place if more people were similarly transformed? Charity begins at home. Why not we begin with ourselves? Why not begin this process of transformation today, the sooner the better. Life is short and precious, and more precious if it is used in the service of the Lord. Time and tide waits for no man!

    Do Not Lose Heart

    posted by admin

This next prayer secret will perfectly follow up with the last prayer secret. In the last prayer secret, which was Prayer Secret #8, we showed you how it was definitely biblical to ask God more than one time on whatever your personal prayer request may be.

We gave you several good verses from Scripture showing that you can pray earnestly, fervently and without ceasing. We showed you how you can go into a major prevailing prayer mode with God where you can try and take a hold of Him, try and wrestle with Him, and continually ask, seek and knock with the specific petition that you may have for Him.

By asking God more than one time for whatever your personal prayer request may be, you are showing God some level of passion, intensity and desire for what you are asking Him for. As a result of showing that kind of desire, passion and intensity to the Lord in your own personal prayers to Him, many times you can create a desire in God to actually want to answer your prayer.

However, what you will find when you start to go into these kinds of prevailing prayer modes with the Lord is that sometimes He will not answer your prayer request - or at least He will not answer the prayer on the timetable that you would like for Him to answer it on.

As a result of not getting some of your prayers answered, you will start to get discouraged, frustrated and impatient. And before you know it, you will want to throw in the towel, quit, and walk off the playing field thinking that God has no intentions on wanting to answer your prayer - not realizing that God may have been testing your patience, stamina, resolve and perseverance on the particular matter.

And this will now lead us into the next major powerful prayer secret.

This next powerful prayer secret is not to lose heart, not to quit, not to get mad and walk off the playing field with the Lord.

This next powerful prayer secret is coming direct from Jesus Himself. The title of this passage is “The Parable of the Persistent Widow.” This is very similar to the verse I gave you in Prayer Secret #8, which was titled “A Friend Comes at Midnight.” That verse was from Luke 11:5-9.

However, this next verse will give us four additional key phrases that will really add some more meat to this revelation that we can go into these mighty prevailing prayer modes with the Lord when the situation dictates that we take this kind of heavier approach with Him.

Here is the specific verse where this powerful piece of revelation is being given to us by the Lord. It is being given to us in a parable.

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Avenge me of my adversary.’ And he would not for awhile; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:1-8)

There are four powerful key phrases in this parable that is giving us major revelation and insight - with all four key phrases showing us that we can really press in hard with the Lord on a heavier type of prayer request. Here are the four key phrases:

    * Always ought to pray
    * Do not lose heart
    * Continual coming
    * Cry out day and night

All four of these key phrases are being tied in to this woman asking an unjust judge to avenge her from her adversary. These four key phrases are being directly tied to one special request. And then notice what the unjust judge ends up doing.

This judge is so unjust, that he has no fear of God or any kind of regard for other people. As a result, he initially does not want to bother to grant this woman’s special request. But then notice why all of a sudden he is going to change his mind.

He is now going to change his mind and grant her request due to one main reason - her continued persistence that he grant this request for her. He says that he will have to grant the request because he will end up growing weary as a result of her “continual coming” to him. In other words, this woman is not going to be letting this matter go and she will continue to press in and petition him with the request.

Jesus then ends this powerful parable stating that if this heathen, unjust judge is going to grant this woman’s request due to her continued persistence with him, then God the Father will do the exact same thing for all of His own!

Notice that Jesus specifically starts this parable out with the command that we should “always ought to pray” and that we should “not lose heart” in our personal prayers to God the Father. Not losing heart means that we are not going to give up and that we will stay the course with the specific prayer request that we have for the Lord unless He tells us otherwise.

Also notice the last two key phrases in that we are to “continually come” and that we are to “cry out day and night.” These two powerful phrases are also showing us that we either have to stay with the prayer request with the Lord until He answers the prayer, or He comes back and lets us know that He doesn’t want to answer the prayer for whatever His personal reasons may be on the matter.

So not only must you learn how to go into a mighty prevailing prayer mode with the Lord when the situation dictates taking this kind of heavier approach with Him, but you must also learn not to lose heart and give up and quit if you do not get the answer to your prayer as fast as you think you should with the Lord.

Sometimes God is watching and testing you on your prayer request. He is watching to see how much of a desire you really have for the prayer request. He is watching and testing you to see how much desire and passion you will really show Him by your “continual coming,” by you “not losing heart” and giving up, and by you “crying out day and night.”

In other words, God is watching you to see if you will make a continued and determined effort to keep on praying to Him. I wonder how many prayers are never answered by the Lord because someone lost heart and gave up after just a few meager prayer attempts with Him. This parable from Jesus, and the above 4 key phrases in this parable, is giving all of us a major powerful prayer secret to be able to use with God the Father.

Not losing heart and giving up could be one of the main determining factors, if not the main determining factor, on being able to get some of your personal prayers mightily answered by the Lord.

Here are several good examples of where this particular prayer secret will come into major play with the Lord. There are some situations that are so serious and so severe, that this kind of intense, powerful and persistent prayer strategy should be used with the Lord.
    1. Unsaved Loved Ones

Without question, the very first area that every single Christian should use this particular prayer strategy with the Lord is in the area of any unsaved loved ones who are in our immediate circle of influence. This would include any unsaved family members, personal friends, neighbors and co-workers. Many Christians have spouses, parents, and even some of their own children who are running around in this world who are still not saved.

All of your loved ones, especially any of your close loved ones, should be put at the top of your personal prayer list with the Lord. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, is more important that getting others saved and brought home to the Lord. Each Christian only has one shot, one window, and one opportunity in this life to try and get as many people saved as they possibly can before their day in the sun is finally over.

If you have any unsaved loved ones who keep stubbornly refusing to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, what I would do is put each one of them at the top of your personal prayer list and apply this particular prayer secret to this situation.

In other words, you will continue to pray to God for their salvation either to the day they literally die or to the day they finally accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This means that you may end up praying for some of these people for 20, 30, 40 or 50 years - sometimes literally to the day they die and depart from this life, as some people will actually get saved on their death beds with the Lord.

As a result, you can never give up on these people and “lose heart” with this particular prayer request. Lives are hanging in the balance, and many of these people’s eternal destinations may end up depending on your own personal stamina, endurance and persistence in your own personal prayer life with the Lord.

    2. Heavy Addictions

With the heavy amount of drug use in this country and throughout different parts of the world, there are many who are severely bound up with some of the heavier drugs like crack cocaine, heroine and meth.

I just recently saw a clip on the Dr. Phil show. There were two twin teenage daughters who had gone from being totally normal, sweet, innocent young girls to heavy crack cocaine and heroine users. It was so bad they were literally selling themselves on the streets as prostitutes so they could get the money to continue their drug use.

They had pot marks and open sores all over their faces and the limbs of their bodies. They were slowly dying and wasting away. It was the most graphic and horrible display of the drastic effects these kinds of heavy drugs can have on the human body that I have ever seen.

They knew they were dying. They knew what they were doing was wrong. But the death grip of this addiction was so strong and so powerful, that they literally could not take themselves off the street or stay in any kind of therapy or rehab for any length of time to help break the addiction off of them. Not only were the drugs and the effects of these drugs holding them captive, but you also know that there were demons operating behind the scenes holding these young girls captive.

Many parents across this country are battling this problem with either their own children, their own spouses, or some of their own close friends or relatives.

These kinds of situations are so severe and so serious, that I believe every Christian who knows of someone being held in this kind extreme bondage and captivity should also put these people at the top of their personal prayer list and go into this prevailing prayer mode with the Lord until they either get help and pull out of these horrible addictions, or they end up dying and leaving this life much earlier than what the Lord would have really liked.

Sometimes the only thing that will rescue and deliver these people from these kinds of heavier addictions is the supernatural power of God. Friends, family members, medical treatments, psychological therapy and counseling will not work for some of these people.

Some of these addictions have such a heavy death grip on some of these people, that only the supernatural power of God will be able to pull these people of it and set them completely free from it. And sometimes the only thing that will get the supernatural power of God to come into these kinds of extreme situations are the prayers of mighty prayer warriors who know how to go into the gap with the Lord - and who know how to stay the course with the Lord until something happens either one way or the other.

Again, if any of you have any loved ones who are caught in the death grip of a heavier drug or who have become an alcoholic, I would highly recommend that you add this person to your personal prayer list and apply this particular prayer secret to it. In other words, do not ever give up or lose heart until God either moves to deliver this person or that person dies and departs from this life.
    3. Cults, False Religions and the Occult

Another very heavy and extreme area where this prayer secret has to brought into play is in the area where people have fallen into some kind of cult or false religion, some area of the occult like witchcraft or Satanism, or some part of the New Age movement.

All of these areas are major enemy-demonic territories and any person, whether they be Christians or unbelievers, need to be seriously prayed for if they have fallen under the spell and influence of these kinds of demonic groups and organizations.

If the person is an unbeliever, they will be in serious danger of ever being able to find and accept Jesus as their true Lord and Savior due to the demons and the false beliefs that are heavily operating in these kinds of organizations. Demons and the members of these groups will blind them to the real truth of the big picture, and they will brainwash these people into accepting lies that will be coming straight from the pit of hell itself.

These types of situations are extreme emergency situations. If you know of anyone that has fallen into some of these kinds of demonic groups, they should also be added to the top of your prayer list. They should all be prayed for until something happens either one way or the other with the Lord. This is another extreme situation that you will not ever want to lose heart over or give up in your personal prayers to the Lord for their deliverance and salvation.
    4. Terminal Diseases and Illnesses

Another heavy area where this prayer secret can be brought into play is in the area where someone has just been diagnosed with a terminal disease or illness. I am going to talk much more about this specific possibility when I do another prayer secret article titled “Mighty Prevailing Prayer.”

Mighty prevailing prayer will be the heaviest of all of the prayer secrets and strategies I will be giving you. This will be the nuclear bomb that you will use in your own personal prayer life with the Lord.

If you have a solid green light from the Holy Spirit to be praying that God heal someone with a terminal illness, then this kind of extra heavy prevailing prayer may be the thing that will get God to release His supernatural healing power into the situation. And part of this extra heavy type of prevailing prayer is not to lose heart and give up on it once you start it up with the Lord - and to stay the course with the Lord until He either actually heals the person or the person dies and departs from this life to be with Him for all of eternity.
    Conclusion

Some of the above are just a few examples of where this particular prayer secret can brought into play. Again, here are the 4 major key phrases that Jesus Himself is giving us in the above parable of the persistent widow:

    * Always ought to pray
    * Do not lose heart
    * Continual coming
    * Cry out day and night

Put all 4 of these powerful phrases within the context of this parable of the persistent widow, and Jesus is telling us loud and clear that we can go into a major prevailing prayer mode with God the Father when we are faced with a heavier type of adverse situation as described in the above examples.

We can continually pray day and night to the Lord when faced with a heavy storm cloud that may either be coming direct at us or someone else we may know - and we can pray with the intentions on never giving up or ever losing heart - which means that we can pray until God either moves to answer the prayer or He tells us to let the matter go for whatever His personal reasons may be for the situation.

This is another extremely powerful prayer secret to add to your own personal arsenal with the Lord.

Professional athletes have found that dogged persistence, stamina and endurance - and never giving up, letting up, or losing heart is one of the main keys to becoming a great professional athlete. And you too can add this powerful prayer secret in your own personal prayer life with the Lord to help you become a mighty prayer warrior for Him!
